The Inequalities in Health Alliance was formed following the publication of the Marmot Review, 10 years on and a joint letter to the Prime Minister by the Royal College of Physicians, along with other Medical Royal Colleges and the Royal Colleges of Midwifery and Nursing.
The Alliance has called for a cross-government strategy on health inequalities, emphasising that all parts of government and public services need to adopt reducing health inequality as a priority:
“It is vital that the impact of policies made at the highest level of government on the poorest in society are weighed up before final decisions are made.”
Collective Voice has joined the Alliance and is pleased to lend its support to this important work. With drug-related deaths occurring disproportionately in some of the poorest parts of the country, substance misuse treatment and recovery has a vital role to play in reducing health inequalities.
The Alliance also welcomes new members – you can apply to join here.
